The Challenge
Latest News
We are a group of four friends who want to raise a considerable amount of money for Prostate Cancer UK and ROBOCAP, a charity which aims to provide vital medical equipment used in the treatment of prostate cancer. To do this we plan to row 3000 miles west across the Atlantic Ocean from La Gomera in The Canary Isles to Antigua carrying everything we need for the journey as part of The Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge. We will navigate a 9m long by 2m wide open top boat through storms and adverse sea conditions without any assistance and a cabin smaller than a single bed for rest and shelter.Whilst on this epic journey we are likely to experience sleep deprivation, severe weight loss, physical pain and psychological exhaustion as we row around the clock in 2 hour shifts for up to 90 days.To put the challenge into perspective, more people have successfully climbed Everest and travelled into space than rowed across the Atlantic Ocean.
Calling all budding Scientists and Engineers, the team have just launched their schools competition! We are giving the opportunity for a school to design and build an experiment, which we will carry across the Atlantic this coming December! Check out our Schools Competition page for more details!

Our Supporters
We couldn’t do this challenge without the help and support of family, friends and yourselves. We’re always touched by all the words of support and encouragement received when out and about on our fundraising trail. RTA2013 are also lucky to have support from a number of fellow adventurers and high profile persons.
The team are part funding this project with support from the following companies. It is because of their generosity and support that we are able to ensure every penny donated by the public to our charities, goes to the charities!
